Wells DVT Score
Pre-test probability score for deep vein thrombosis (DVT). Guides D-dimer and Doppler ultrasound ordering.
Used in: Venous Thromboembolism (DVT & PE)
Score interpretation
Low probability (Wells <2): DVT unlikely
→ D-dimer; if negative: DVT excluded; if positive: compression Doppler USS
High probability (Wells >= 2): DVT likely
→ Compression Doppler USS directly; if negative with high suspicion: repeat in 1 week or venography
Interpretation bands for the Wells DVT. Apply clinical judgement and local guidance.
