Obscure GI Bleeding Risk Score
Risk stratification for obscure gastrointestinal bleeding (OGIB) — bleeding of unknown origin after upper and lower endoscopy. Guides capsule endoscopy timing.
Used in: Gastrointestinal Bleeding
Score interpretation
Low risk OGIB
→ Elective capsule endoscopy; iron supplementation; watchful waiting
Moderate risk OGIB
→ Urgent capsule endoscopy or CTE; repeat push enteroscopy if capsule positive
High risk OGIB
→ Emergency capsule or intraoperative enteroscopy; consider mesenteric angiography if actively bleeding
Interpretation bands for the OGIB Score. Apply clinical judgement and local guidance.
