Composite shoulder outcome score (Constant 1987). Pain (15) + ADL (20) + Range of motion (40) + Strength (25) = 100 points.
Score interpretation
Poor 0–55
→ Significant disability — orthopaedic referral. MRI to characterise pathology (cuff tear, OA, instability).
Fair 56–70
→ Physiotherapy + analgesia + steroid injection. If no improvement at 3 months, surgical review.
Good 71–85
→ Continue rehabilitation. Reassess at 3–6 months.
Excellent 86–100
→ Functional shoulder; maintain activity.
