Score interpretation
Low total PANSS score. Mild symptom burden.
→ Optimise antipsychotic therapy. Psychosocial interventions. Monitor monthly.
Moderate symptom burden. Functional impairment likely.
→ Review antipsychotic dose/agent. Clozapine if ≥2 adequate trials failed. Assertive community treatment. Carer support.
Severe symptoms. Significant functional impairment.
→ Inpatient admission if risk to self or others. Clozapine consideration. Psychiatric intensive care if needed. Full MDT involvement.
