Comprehensive Complication Index (CCI)
Single 0–100 score summarising all post-operative complications by severity (Slankamenac 2013). Derived from Clavien-Dindo grades using the formula: CCI = √(Σ wᵢ × 100). This calculator records the calculated CCI band — use the live calculator at assessurgery.com for exact value.
Score interpretation

→ Manage individual complications per Clavien-Dindo. Discharge usually on schedule.
→ Multi-component complications — review whether intervention or escalation needed. May prolong length of stay; engage allied health and discharge planning early.
→ ICU level care often required. Mortality risk significant. M&M review. Family communication and goals-of-care discussion.
→ Critical incident review; M&M; STIIs; coroner referral if appropriate; bereavement support; duty-of-candour conversation.
