VIDA Score (Vitiligo Disease Activity)
Assesses disease activity in vitiligo using the Vitiligo Disease Activity (VIDA) score. Guides treatment selection (immunosuppression vs phototherapy vs surgical).
Score interpretation
→ Surgical treatment options eligible (melanocyte transplant, blister grafting); phototherapy maintenance; sun protection; psychological support
→ Topical calcineurin inhibitors (tacrolimus) or low-potency topical steroids; narrowband UVB phototherapy; avoid surgery until stable; monitor progress
→ Oral mini-pulse corticosteroids (dexamethasone 2.5mg alternate days x 3-6 months); NB-UVB; consider ruxolitinib 1.5% cream (JAK inhibitor, NICE approved 2024); dermatology referral
