DIC Score (ISTH Overt DIC)
Diagnoses overt disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) using ISTH scoring system. Score >=5 indicates overt DIC requiring urgent management.
Score interpretation
→ Repeat in 24-48h if clinical suspicion high; treat underlying cause; monitor coagulation trend; no specific DIC therapy required unless active bleeding
→ Treat underlying cause urgently (sepsis, malignancy, obstetric complication, trauma); FFP 15ml/kg if bleeding or invasive procedure planned; cryoprecipitate if fibrinogen <1.5 g/L; platelet transfusion if <20-50 + bleeding; haematology consult; daily monitoring
