Predicts progression-free and overall survival in extranodal marginal zone lymphoma (MALT lymphoma).
Score interpretation
MALT-IPI 0: 5-year event-free survival 70 % (Thieblemont 2017).
→ Low-risk MALT lymphoma. Standard treatment (watch/wait, RT, or rituximab as appropriate).
MALT-IPI 1: 5-year event-free survival 56 %.
→ Intermediate risk. Stage- and site-appropriate treatment with closer follow-up; the index does not by itself select therapy.
MALT-IPI 2–3: 5-year event-free survival 29 %.
→ High risk. Systemic combination therapy. Consider clinical trial. Close surveillance.
