Radiation Therapy BED Calculator
Calculates Biologically Effective Dose (BED) and Equivalent Dose in 2Gy fractions (EQD2) for radiotherapy planning. Uses linear-quadratic model.
Score interpretation
Low BED 0–50
Low biologically effective dose — may be palliative intent
→ Suitable for palliation or symptom control
Moderate BED 51–75
Moderate BED — typical radical palliative range
→ Used for radical palliation or moderate-dose curative intent
High BED ≥ 76
High BED — radical curative intent
→ Monitor for late toxicity particularly to late-responding normal tissues (α/β ~3)
Interpretation bands for the BED Calculator. Apply clinical judgement and local guidance.
