DAS28-CRP (Disease Activity Score — Rheumatoid Arthritis)

Measures rheumatoid arthritis disease activity using 28 joint counts (tender and swollen), CRP, and patient global assessment. Guides DMARD therapy.

Score interpretation

Remission (DAS28-CRP <2.6)

→ Remission achieved; maintain current DMARD; consider dose tapering

Low disease activity (2.6-3.2)

→ Low activity; continue current therapy; 3-monthly review

Moderate disease activity (3.2-5.1)

→ Moderate activity; consider DMARD escalation or biologic if inadequate response

High disease activity (>5.1)

→ High activity; escalate treatment; biologic or targeted synthetic DMARD; assess for treat-to-target

Interpretation bands for the DAS28-CRP. Apply clinical judgement and local guidance.
