HEART Score (Chest Pain Risk)

Rapid risk stratification for chest pain patients in ED. Predicts 30-day MACE (death, MI, revascularisation). Guides safe discharge vs admission.

Used in: Acute Coronary Syndrome & Chest Pain

Score interpretation

Low risk (0-3): MACE < 2%

→ Safe early discharge; no serial troponins needed; outpatient follow-up; no further workup in ED

Moderate risk (4-6): MACE ~12-16%

→ Observe; serial troponins at 3h; stress testing or coronary imaging before discharge

High risk (7-10): MACE > 50%

→ Cardiology admission; invasive coronary angiography; early revascularisation

Interpretation bands for the HEART Score. Apply clinical judgement and local guidance.
