Steroid Conversion Calculator
Converts between equivalent doses of corticosteroids based on their relative anti-inflammatory potency and duration of action. Essential for dose adjustment, weaning, and switching between steroids.
Score interpretation
Calculated equivalent anti-inflammatory dose. Note: mineralocorticoid activity and HPA suppression are NOT equivalent — adjust clinical management accordingly.
→ This is a guide only — individual patient response varies. Key clinical notes: (1) Dexamethasone has minimal mineralocorticoid activity — do not use to replace adrenal function. (2) When converting for adrenal insufficiency, use hydrocortisone. (3) In Addisonian crisis: hydrocortisone 100mg IV stat, then 200mg/24h by continuous infusion. (4) Always taper steroids if > 3 weeks therapy to avoid adrenal crisis.
