Recognise + Workup
Modified Dandy criteria: signs/symptoms of raised ICP (headache worse on Valsalva / lying flat / morning, transient visual obscurations, pulsatile tinnitus, papilloedema, diplopia from VI palsy); normal neurological exam except papilloedema ± VI palsy; no other cause of raised ICP; opening pressure >25 cm H₂O at LP (in correctly positioned adult). Risk: female, obese (BMI >30), reproductive age. Drugs: tetracyclines, retinoids, lithium, growth hormone, OCP (controversial).
