Chorioamnionitis

Chorioamnionitis (intra-amniotic infection): inflammation/infection of the chorion, amnion, and amniotic fluid. Incidence 1–4% of term deliveries; higher in PPROM and prolonged labour. Causes: polymicrobial ascending infection — GBS, E. coli, anaerobes.
