Score interpretation

Insulin Sensitive 0–1

HOMA-IR <1.0: Good insulin sensitivity

→ Normal; lifestyle maintenance advised

Normal Range 1–1.9

HOMA-IR 1.0–1.9: Within normal population range

→ Monitor annually; promote exercise and healthy diet

Possible Insulin Resistance 2–2.9

HOMA-IR 2.0–2.9: Early insulin resistance

→ Lifestyle modification; weight management; fasting glucose/HbA1c; consider lipid profile

Insulin Resistant ≥ 3

HOMA-IR ≥3.0: Significant insulin resistance

→ Diabetes/metabolic syndrome workup; consider metformin in high-risk; endocrinology referral
