Glasgow-Blatchford Score (Upper GI Bleed)

Predicts need for clinical intervention in upper GI bleeding. Score 0 = very low risk; can be discharged safely without endoscopy.

Score interpretation

Very low risk

→ Safe for outpatient management; no immediate endoscopy required

Low-moderate risk

→ Urgent endoscopy within 24h; admit if haemodynamically unstable

High risk

→ Emergency endoscopy; resuscitation; senior gastroenterology input
