Bishop Score (Cervical Ripeness for Induction)
Assesses cervical favourability for induction of labour. Score >= 8 indicates a favourable cervix.
Score interpretation
Unfavourable cervix
→ Cervical ripening required: prostaglandins or mechanical balloon
Moderately favourable
→ Consider ripening or proceed with amniotomy and oxytocin
Favourable
→ Amniotomy and/or oxytocin infusion; good chance of vaginal delivery
Interpretation bands for the Bishop Score. Apply clinical judgement and local guidance.
