TRISS (Trauma and Injury Severity Score)
Estimates probability of survival after trauma by combining the Injury Severity Score (ISS), Revised Trauma Score (RTS), age, and mechanism of injury. Used for trauma audit and benchmarking.
Score interpretation
TRISS predicted survival >75%. Good prognosis.
→ Standard trauma management. Aim for full resuscitation and injury repair.
TRISS predicted survival 25-75%. Guarded prognosis.
→ Major trauma centre management. ICU care. Damage control surgery if indicated. Family communication.
TRISS predicted survival <25%. High mortality risk.
→ Maximal trauma resuscitation. Consider damage control approach. Attend to family communication and advance directives if applicable.
