Lansky Play-Performance Scale
Measures functional performance in paediatric oncology patients aged 1–16 years. Analogous to the Karnofsky Performance Scale for children. 100 = fully active; 0 = unresponsive.
Score interpretation
Score 70–100 — good functional status; minor to no limitation
→ Suitable for chemotherapy and active cancer treatment; standard oncological care
Score 40–69 — moderate functional impairment
→ Treatment feasibility depends on type; reduce dose or dose-delay consideration; supportive care; palliative care discussion
Score ≤39 — severe functional impairment
→ Intensive supportive care; palliative or end-of-life planning; treatment toxicity risk very high
Interpretation bands for the Lansky Scale. Apply clinical judgement and local guidance.
