Lansky Play-Performance Scale
Measures functional status and activity level in children (ages 1–16). Paediatric equivalent of the Karnofsky Performance Scale. Used in oncology and palliative care.
Score interpretation
→ Lansky 80–100: Normal activity with at most minor restrictions. Child is functional and active. Suitable for standard outpatient management and routine activities.
→ Lansky 50–70: Significant restriction in active play; ambulatory but reduced activity. May require school adaptations; consider psychosocial support and physiotherapy.
→ Lansky 30–40: Mostly bed-bound; limited to passive activities. Increased carer support required; consider palliative care referral and symptom management.
→ Lansky 0–20: Minimal or no response; essentially unresponsive. Goals of care discussion essential; palliative and hospice care referral.
