Revised Trauma Score (T-RTS) in Children
The triage Revised Trauma Score (coded GCS + systolic BP + respiratory rate) applied to injured children. There is no separate paediatric version; the Paediatric Trauma Score is the paediatric-specific alternative.
Score interpretation
GCS 13–15, systolic BP > 89 mmHg and respiratory rate 10–29/min (all coded 4).
→ Physiology alone does not indicate trauma-centre care; apply anatomical and mechanism triage criteria.
Any coded value below 4 (Champion 1989). Lower values mean worse physiology. Adult vital-sign codes; interpret with age-appropriate norms.
→ Trauma team activation; resuscitation; transfer to a paediatric major trauma centre per the regional network.
Interpretation bands for the PRTS. Apply clinical judgement and local guidance.
