Lung-Protective Tidal Volume (ARDSNet Predicted Body Weight)
Calculates recommended endotracheal tube depth and initial tidal volume based on patient height. Prevents endobronchial intubation and ventilator-induced lung injury (VILI). Based on ARDSNet and standard anatomical guidelines.
Score interpretation
Lung-Protective Tidal Volume (6 mL/kg PBW) ≥ 0
Target 6 mL/kg predicted body weight (range 4–8 mL/kg) with plateau pressure ≤ 30 cmH₂O (ARDSNet; FICM/ICS 2019).
→ Start at 8 mL/kg and reduce to 6 mL/kg; titrate to plateau pressure and gas exchange.
Interpretation bands for the Tidal volume (PBW). Apply clinical judgement and local guidance.
