Aortic Stenosis Severity Classification (ACC/AHA)
Classifies aortic stenosis severity from echocardiographic parameters per ACC/AHA 2021 guidelines. Guides timing of intervention (TAVI or SAVR).
Score interpretation
→ Serial echo in 3-5 years; risk factor modification; no intervention
→ Annual echo; exercise stress testing if asymptomatic; TAVI/SAVR if rapid progression
→ 6-monthly echo; TAVI or SAVR if LVEF < 50%, very severe AS, or exercise-induced symptoms
→ Urgent TAVI (TAVR) or SAVR; avoid vasodilators; avoid strenuous activity; expedite valve team review
Interpretation bands for the AS Severity. Apply clinical judgement and local guidance.
