Hypoglycaemia Severity Classification
Classifies hypoglycaemia severity to guide acute management (rule of 15/20) and prevention strategy.
Score interpretation
→ Rule of 15: 15g fast-acting carbs (3-4 glucose tabs, 150mL juice); recheck in 15 min; if resolved eat snack
→ Rule of 20: 20g carbs; if unable to self-treat: buccal or sublingual glucose gel; IM glucagon 1mg; carer-assisted treatment
→ IV glucose 75mL 20% (or 150mL 10%) stat; IM glucagon 1mg if no IV access; 999/emergency; post-recovery safety check; adjust insulin regimen
