Influenza Severity Score (FluSS)
Identifies high-risk influenza patients requiring antiviral therapy (oseltamivir) and hospital-level care.
Score interpretation
Mild influenza
→ Home management; rest, fluids, paracetamol; antivirals not routinely indicated
Moderate — antiviral indicated
→ Oseltamivir (Tamiflu) 75mg BD x5 days; reassess if no improvement in 48h
Severe — hospital admission
→ Admit; IV oseltamivir if unable to take oral; oxygen; secondary bacterial pneumonia cover
