IE Prophylaxis Indication
Identifies patients requiring antibiotic prophylaxis before dental procedures based on ESC/AHA guidelines.
Score interpretation
No high-risk cardiac condition and/or no high-risk procedure
→ Standard dental care without prophylaxis
High-risk condition present but procedure may not require prophylaxis, or vice versa
→ Confirm both high-risk condition AND high-risk procedure present before prescribing
High-risk condition + high-risk dental procedure
→ Amoxicillin 2g PO 30–60 min before procedure (or clindamycin 600mg if penicillin allergy)
Interpretation bands for the IE Prophylaxis. Apply clinical judgement and local guidance.
