Calculates appropriate uncuffed and cuffed ETT size, and insertion depth for children based on age. Based on validated age-based formulas used in APLS/EPLS guidelines.
Score interpretation
Cuffed ETT Internal Diameter (mm) 0–20
Cuffed ID = age/4 + 3.5 mm; uncuffed = age/4 + 4 mm; oral length ≈ age/2 + 12 cm. Resuscitation Council UK (2025) recommends cuffed tubes for children over 30 days corrected age.
→ Have a tube a half-size above and below ready; confirm placement with capnography.
