Gupta Perioperative Risk for MI or Cardiac Arrest (MICA)
Predicts the risk of perioperative myocardial infarction or cardiac arrest (NSQIP-derived logistic model, Gupta 2011) from age, functional status, ASA class, creatinine and type of surgery.
Score interpretation
Predicted perioperative MI or cardiac arrest risk below 1 %.
→ Low risk: proceed without further cardiac testing for this reason (ACC/AHA 2014).
Predicted perioperative MI or cardiac arrest risk 1 % or more.
→ Elevated risk: assess functional capacity and follow the perioperative guideline pathway (biomarkers, specialist review).
