Predicts 30-day survival probability in advanced cancer patients using dyspnoea, anorexia, Karnofsky Performance Status, WBC, lymphocyte percentage, and clinician estimate.
Score interpretation
PaP 0-5.5. >70% probability of surviving 30 days.
→ Active treatment goals may be appropriate. Supportive care to continue.
PaP 5.6-11. Intermediate prognosis. 30-70% 30-day survival probability.
→ Goals of care discussion essential. Involve palliative team. Anticipatory prescribing.
PaP >11. Poor prognosis. <30% probability of surviving 30 days.
→ Comfort-focused care. Minimise investigations. Family communication and bereavement support.
