Young Mania Rating Scale
Clinician-rated 11-item scale measuring severity of manic episodes. Widely used in bipolar disorder trials.
Score interpretation
Score 0–12: Minimal or no manic symptoms
→ Routine monitoring; adjust maintenance therapy if appropriate
Score 13–19: Mild mania or hypomania
→ Optimise mood stabiliser; increase outpatient contact
Score 20–29: Moderate manic episode
→ Pharmacotherapy adjustment; consider admission
Score ≥30: Severe manic episode
→ Psychiatric admission; antipsychotic + mood stabiliser; risk assessment
