NICE Position — Avoid Risk Stratification
NICE NG225 (2022) — DO NOT use risk-stratification scores or matrices to predict future suicide / self-harm. Predictions inaccurate; can lead to under-treatment of low-risk and over-restrictive management of high-risk. Instead: comprehensive psychosocial assessment, identify modifiable factors, collaborative safety planning, formulation-based intervention.
