SLiM-CRAB Criteria for Multiple Myeloma
Identifies myeloma-defining events (MDEs) requiring treatment initiation. Any SLiM or CRAB criterion = symptomatic myeloma.
Score interpretation
No SLiM or CRAB criteria met. Smouldering or MGUS, not requiring treatment.
→ Classify as MGUS or smouldering myeloma based on plasma cell percentage. Watch and wait. Apply 20/2/20 risk scoring.
≥ 1 SLiM or CRAB criterion met. Symptomatic/active multiple myeloma diagnosis confirmed. Treatment required.
→ Initiate antimyeloma treatment (bortezomib-based or daratumumab-based protocol). Assess transplant eligibility. Haematology-oncology specialist care.
Interpretation bands for the SLiM-CRAB. Apply clinical judgement and local guidance.
