Dose: Wernicke's prophylaxis: 1 pair IV TDS x3-5 days. Treatment: 2-3 pairs IV TDS x3 days then 1 pair OD x3-5 days

- Alcohol withdrawal, refeeding syndrome, severe vitamin deficiency
- Always before glucose; resus equipment available
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to thiamine

- Anaphylaxis (rare)
- Injection-site irritation
- Yellow urine
