Predicts progression-free and overall survival in extranodal marginal zone lymphoma (MALT lymphoma).
Score interpretation
Low Risk 0
MALT-IPI 0: 5-year PFS ~70%, OS ~97%.
→ Low-risk MALT lymphoma. Standard treatment (watch/wait, RT, or rituximab as appropriate).
Intermediate Risk 1
MALT-IPI 1: 5-year PFS ~56%, OS ~84%.
→ Intermediate risk. Systemic therapy (rituximab ± chemotherapy) usually indicated.
High Risk 2–3
MALT-IPI 2–3: 5-year PFS ~29%, OS ~76%.
→ High risk. Systemic combination therapy. Consider clinical trial. Close surveillance.
