Mantle Cell Lymphoma International Prognostic Index (MIPI)
Simplified MIPI score predicts overall survival in mantle cell lymphoma (MCL).
Score interpretation
Low Risk 0–3
MIPI 0–3: 5-year OS ~60%. Favourable prognosis.
→ Standard MCL therapy. Consider watch-and-wait in asymptomatic low-burden cases.
Intermediate Risk 4–5
MIPI 4–5: 5-year OS ~35%.
→ Systemic treatment required. Consider intensive induction + autologous SCT in eligible patients.
High Risk 6–11
MIPI 6–11: 5-year OS ~17%. Poor prognosis.
→ Intensive therapy. Clinical trial enrolment strongly recommended. BTK inhibitor combinations.
Interpretation bands for the MIPI. Apply clinical judgement and local guidance.
