OAB-V8 — Overactive Bladder Questionnaire
OAB-V8 awareness tool: how bothered the patient has been by 8 overactive bladder symptoms (0 not at all – 5 a very great deal), plus 2 points for men. A screening aid, not a diagnosis.
Score interpretation
OAB-V8 below 8: bothersome OAB symptoms unlikely.
→ No specific intervention; reassess if symptoms worsen
OAB-V8 8 or more: bothersome OAB symptoms likely — assess further (history, urinalysis, bladder diary) to confirm OAB.
→ Bladder training; anticholinergic (oxybutynin, solifenacin) or beta-3 agonist (mirabegron); pelvic floor exercises; lifestyle modification (caffeine, fluid management)
Interpretation bands for the OAB-V8. Apply clinical judgement and local guidance.
