Follicular Lymphoma International Prognostic Index (FLIPI)
Prognostic index for follicular lymphoma predicting 5-year and 10-year overall survival. Used to guide treatment decisions and patient counselling.
Score interpretation
→ FLIPI High Risk (score 3–5): 5-year OS ~47%; 10-year OS ~36%. Consider clinical trial, aggressive therapy, or novel agents (obinutuzumab, lenalidomide). Discuss prognosis.
→ FLIPI Intermediate Risk (score 2): 5-year OS ~67%; 10-year OS ~51%. Standard immunochemotherapy (R-CHOP or R-bendamustine) based on symptoms and disease bulk.
→ FLIPI Low Risk (score 0–1): 5-year OS ~90%; 10-year OS ~71%. Watch and wait acceptable for asymptomatic, non-bulky disease. Rituximab monotherapy an option.
Interpretation bands for the FLIPI. Apply clinical judgement and local guidance.
